i like: Gwinganna sleep retreat
Can’t sleep? This works. It truly does, in a gentle, lasting way. Gwinganna retreat in the Gold Coast hinterland is where I did mine. I can’t recommend it enough. I learnt that you shouldn’t eat grapefruit at night and that sleep cures most things – auto-immune, cholesterol problems, weight issues. Four months later and I’m still living out the tips I learned there. Aside from anything else, the place is authentic in its commitment to wellness. Some of the best healers on site, organic food, a wise old legend who lives on the estate and leads walks each morning, Qi Gong practice at sunrise and staff who give a damn. Really. One other thing: the experience is effortless. A 20 minute ride from Gold Coast airport and you’re there, a gazillion miles from everything you need to leave behind.

Here’s the column I wrote on it in Sunday Life….here. For more info email reservations@gwinganna.com and mention you read about the retreat here. Hope this advice can help some of you!

I loved my time at Golden Door in Pokobin. Similar idea. Retreat, eat well, sleep well, move, cleanse. <3

Gorgeous Girl – what a touching post about healing your Al…I’ve recently had a serious operation on my spine, and have been on heavy painkillers pre and post surgery (I was helping another monther with her pram full of twins + groceries down the stairs and have ruptured a disk and displaced 2 others). I’m now medication free and we hope to start planning for our 2nd baby. Hence, I’m considering to give Gwinganna a go for a detox – both mental and physical and clear my head before next pregnancy. Thank you for your feedback about it – since we share SO MANY thoughs about life and how to live it (and I also try to listen to my body for clues on when I ‘overdo it’ or when I engage in negative or toxic behaviour) – your feedback has helped me to make a decision to spend some time at Gwinganna and not the other retreats. Sorry for jumbled post – I have a little toddler running around and interrupting and I have a bad sore throat at the moment. I know you understand!
Hugs to you, beautiful girl – thank you for your generosity, for sharing your thoughs and feelings and through that helping many people out there.
