The translation from the Danish is slightly off. The bit about tea is a misunderstanding … It’s a children’s birthday song (and it’s embarassing that we can’t think of something better to sing to an adult). The meaning is “With lovely, (hot) chocolate and cakes”. We’re very sloppy with pronounciation, so I wouldn’t be surprise if quite a few Danes think, too, it has something to do with tea…

thanks for the translation Salbra , it would make me quite emotional and elated to hear that too, much more heartfelt than: happy birthday to you happy birthday to you , you look like a monkey and you smell like one too.
Forget changing the National Anthem – we need to change our Happy Birthday!
