Posted on December 23rd, 2010

Bike fans, there’s a new bike mag out and it’s called Treadlie. It’s very cute and is on sale now in newsagents.

It’s got a guide to building your own fixie, and features hot bike looks and other hot bike bits and pieces. Oh, and my beautiful single-speed gets its own spread. If you’re keen to enter the world of SS’s and fixies, here’s a good launch pad.

    Hi Sarah,

Could you maybe someday do a post on your bike clothing and/or make-up? Maybe this sounds superficial, but when I ride my bike to work I always arive lika a sweaty mess :) . That might be the only reason why I don’t ride my bike every day to work. Stupid, I know.

    Greetings from Brussels!

PS: I LOVE your blog! You are an inspiration.

Agree would be good to manage clothing/makeup vs riding. I look a mess when I arrive at work.

BTW, what are you wearing Sarah? It looks like a nappy. Don’t think I would ride around in these. LOL

You are a hot tomali, Sarah. And I agree with the others – how do we girls ride and arrive looking Ok? Rode to a party the other night and had to hide downstairs in the bottle shop fanning my face and fixing my hair. And I was peddling leisurely. Still beats the bus, though.

  • Hi Sarah,
great to see you in the new issue of Treadlie and to hear about your amazing rides around the globe.

I have just opened a store called Spokes & Arrows in South Yarra Melbourne that carries beautifully tailored cycling apparel for both men and women.
This is the answer to riding to work and other functions in style and combining the performance materials you will arrive comfortable i.e. not dripping with sweat.

I would love you to check out the website and facebook page.

I have been into this store, it is fantastic! I bought a pair of Outlier Daily Wear pants for $195, other stores have them for around $250, and a pair of Swerve knicks. They are the best for riding in. And I bought a Brat and Suzie t-shirt, they are the cutest t-shirts ever. Anyone who rides should check out thi shop!

I totally got my skirt caught in my bike last week. Couldn’t dismount. Very awkward. Check this, though:

I have completed a few triathlons. This is NOT to say that I am a triathlete. I do however have a swanky carbon fibre 14 speed roadie, which I ride to work due to the 10klms and several hills. But alas, this is not cool or comfortable enough to jump on and head to the beach for my morning coffee and swim or to pop down to the little shop. It requires cletes and niks and gloves and a serious helmet. I need a cool fixie, but trying to convince my husband of this is impossible. Not that I need his permission or even financial support to purchase one I just would like him to indulge me and agree with my arguments for “needing” a cool retro looking, possibly expensive alternative bycicle.

    Lisa,
    Different bikes for different rides….
Adding to the collection is all part of the fun.
Do your research before getting a “retro” looking fixed or single speed, there is a lot of sub standard items being sold around the place at the moment.
On the other hand their are some very collectable and high quality fixed and single speed bikes if one knows where to look.
I cant think why your husband wouldn’t want you riding such a nice bike.
    Brenton.
