Join my 8-week I QUIT SUGAR reboot program kicking off January!
It’ll be easy + not-boring-at-all + it WILL work
I get a sense that a few of you are thinking they’d like clean up their insides after the year that was. And, of course, the indulgent I-can’t-cope-with-being-discplined-right-now-I’m-too-exhausted Christmas and New Year we’re about to give in to.
2011 was harrrrrd. And lots of stuff built up, don’t you think? We were also so very harsh on ourselves this year, frantically trying to cope and not really being mindful of how we were treating our bodies. So, we’re a little gunked up, addicted, heavy, stuck.
If this sounds like you, what do you reckon of this:
In January we’ll be kicking off a program for everyone keen to start the I Quit Sugar program as a New Year commitment. If you’ve been procrastinating about getting on board, now might be a good time.
This is how it will work:
* Simply buy the I Quit Sugar ebook for $15 here.
* Start any time in the first week or so of January. No stress. Once you’re ready.
* Each week I’ll answer your questions as they come up. Ask dumb ones. Smart ones. All cool.
* I’ll also be holding a webinar where you can fire off your wonderings at me. Anyone who’s already bought the book or started the program is free to join in, too.
* I’ll be inviting various nutritionists and health coaches to join in the forums and share their thoughts, too.
It will be a clusterf*ck of “RID THYSELF OF SUGAR” sharing
Quitting sugar will:
* detox your liver
* see you lose weight
* clear your skin
* get you fresh and clear for 2012
If you’d like to read how much of a difference it made to others – health recoveries, 15kg weight loss etc - peruse here.
Finally, if you still have questions, post them below and I’ll answer them over the next few days…
See you in January and have a restful Christmas.
Sarah x

Perfect!!! My plan was to start in January, so this is just fantastic! Really looking forward to it!

Sarah…..I did read the ebook. I was wondering….Can I do this challenge while removing all processed sugars and just keep occassional fruit? Or is it a must to stop all sugar for that 8 wk period to fully detox? I guess Im wondering if I opt to do fruit only, do I need to do a 10-12 week duration? Does that make sense or am I defeating the purpose? Thanks! Megan

Great idea!! I recently cut out dairy after 7 months of no sugar and grains. The final few health-issues went.

@ IVY… were you on pasteurized and homogenized dairy or raw dairy???

I bought the book when it came out, tried it but failed miserably. Since then i’ve really cut back on sugar, but would still say I was addicted. This will be a good chance to get back on the wagon!… or off so to speak.

sounds fantastic … I’ve recently completed the Michelle Bridges 12 week body transformation with amazing results (removed all excess thyroid weight when my thyroid went bonkas). I’ve already cut the ‘sugar-I-can-see’ out of my diet for the past year and a half but will be most interested to follow your program and eliminate the ‘sugar-I-can’t see’ … I’m in too!

Hi Sarah
I have recently been informed by my GP that in 4-5 years I will have an auto-immune illness, picked up through blood tests after 6mths of dizziness, fatigue, loss of/ increased appetite, numbing and tingling of fingers/ toes and terrible periods. I have been very good and not consulted Dr Google because I constantly fear the worst. I fear that if I consult Dr Google, I will only see the severe illnesses and not delve further into the ‘simple’, ‘managable’ illnesses.
My question is: is this one of the best ways for me to decrease the symptoms, decrease my chances of having an illness and perhaps not live in fear that I will have a terrible disease?
I understand you don’t have the answers to everything, but I feel that by starting NOW, I can fight this before the fight really needs to begin. I have a young family, am just about to begin full time study, and to make things MORE busy, my husband and I would like another baby.
Thanks,
Kathryn

Kathryn, have you checked out my posts on AI? click on the link in the menu up top. Cutting out sugar, in my experience – and also going by all the advice I’ve been given – is pretty much mandatory if you have any kind of AI. It’s a toxin. And AI is caused/sped up/made worse by toxins. I can’t tell you what to do, but I think quitting sugar is a very sound start…

I have skimmed some of the AI posts previously, but with what I know now and will possibly experience, I will be re-reading them and trying my very best. Anything I can do to stop this in its tracks…whatever it may be…is worth a try. Thank you…I’m more positive after reading a little bit more of your blog today.

If it helps I was meant to have diabetes by now, and dont. That was something my dr threatened me with. Several years on, all my various tests for blood glucose, cholesterol, etc come back perfect after making huge headway in taking care of myself. I’m not saying every illness can be reversed or stopped, but food as medicine truly gives you your best shot. It’s amazingly potent. Good luck xx
I’m in! Was planning on starting it anyway – really just too hard to start now – so looking forward to being part of a community all in it together

I’m in too – was planning on doing it anyway!
My first question Sarah is can I have lemon juice? Lemon rind? Orange rind? I use it heaps to flavour salads and baked fish / tofu etc..
Thanks for all your support so far – you don’t know it but you have been!

Oh Sarah this is awesome, thankyou once again for all your inspiration, it will be great to kick sugar in a nurturing and supportive environment. Your words have resonated deeply with me this year and I quoted you in one of my blog posts http://pattykikos.com/2011/12/rest-vs-party
Thanks again for sharing with such humour and candour and see you next year xxx

Count me in too!! I read through the ebook last night but thought starting before the New Year might be setting myself up for failure! Can’t wait!!

I’m interested in your ebook. I have had many dietary issues in the past too long to list. My dietician thinks a “yeast overgrowth” is contributing to the majority of my symptoms at the moment and has recommended to go off sugars etc. I have many allergies/intolerances including wheat, dairy, egg white, yeast, most nuts, beans, corn and the list goes on. I’ve also been diagnosed with lactose intolerance and fructose malabsorption. My question is regarding your ebook recipes. With the above list of restrictions do you think the recipes supplied and the hints would still be useful? Or would it make most recipes hard to follow?
Many thanks.

For anyone umming and ahhing about whether to do this – JUST DO IT!
It is so EASY. I finished Sarah’s 8 week program weeks ago and I’m still happily sugar free, for the very first time in life!
In fact, I was so impressed with this achievement, I’m now giving up alcohol for 8 weeks, using the same gentle techniques Sarah suggests for sugar.
Thanks Sarah and good luck everyone!

Hi Sarah, fabulous timing, thankyou so much for offering your time to help us all achieve this. You are so generous! I can’t wait. I bought your ebook a couple of months ago and it all makes so much sense to me. I’ve suffered over the years from fatigue, IBS, the shakes and irritability when I don’t eat on time or regularly and I feel sugar has a lot to do with it all. It was really interesting too when I had my 2 lil ones and had to do the sugar test both results were high, but with the 2nd test not of concern yet, but it showed that I was greatly affected by sugar. I don’t actually eat a lot of sugar, I even make my own yoghurt as I could find an affordable one I liked and that didn’t have sugar. I’d say I eat more of the hidden sugars such as honey and those beautiful fruits, omg, how will I do without my favourite juicy sweet pineapples this summer?! I’ve been putting off completely sticking to your outline in the ebook for these reasons and also not wanting to feel like a social outcase at the odd gathering or invitation for a meal at friends around this social time of year. Can’t wait, thankyou so much again, Liza xxx

Ok, so I’m in too……I have watched (& secretly envied) your sugar-free status from a distance, always saying “good for her” but not for me. Well, I do know it’s time for me. So I’m looking forward to that journey with everyone. Here’s to a sugar free 2012

I brought your ebook but have been surprised at how resistent I am to staring this program. I seem to find every excuse in the book. I have also realised how deeply involved I am with sugar ( and I would have pegged me as more of a savoury girl myself) I am almost nervous about having to live without it – What will propel me forward? What will cheer me up and calm me down? I so need to get on board with your program in the new year. Count me in!

you’re not alone. that resistance is so deep. it makes people ANGRY to even think about it quitting…i cop it from a stack of people around me. see how you go… it always helps knowing others are in the same rocky boat

Whoop whoop! I too have already purchased your ebook & sweet poison quit plan, and have ‘attempted’ to quit the sugar as much as possible before going into full time quitting after Christmas. (lets face it, I am an addict & to be realistic, there is no point in starting to curb such an addiction when I am destined to fail at this time of year!) So reading your post just now re your support plan starting Jan, is perfect timing indeed!
I’ll be there 100%……

Hi, I am curious to know whether anyone has NOT had an amazing result from quitting sugar? I am 6.5 weeks into the plan and haven’t lost any weight which I am disappointed about… I feel okay, but not amazing, I have two small children so am tired more often than not! I am not overdoing the fat/nuts/avocado side of things, just enjoying them, I still drink coffee and wine a few nights a week…. After the first couple of weeks I haven’t found it too hard to quit sugar either.. I do still miss fruit though which I will introduce back in a few weeks. Would love to hear if anyone else has had this kind of experience. Thank you Sarah for motivating us to a healthier life!

this is great! and license to eat my body weight in pudding in the meantime (kidding).
sort of.
[Reply]
Why not, I’m also in.
I loved your ebook but have only 90% quit sugar, I still have the occasional treat. If I can figure out how to keep it “occasional” I would be fine but buggered if I have the self control!
Your next task is to form a self help group for those of us who can eat an entire block of cheese at a time while quitting sugar. We could have cheesaholic meetings, and get cheese sponsors and everything. Yes? No?
[Reply]
Fab news! I have also completed your 8 week challenge and have quit sugar. However I am a bit worried I will stray on christmas and boxing day, then find it hard to get back on the wagon. I wanted to have a sugar free christmas but couldn’t find any recipes which would satisfy me as well as those who eat sugar. I have a few recipes for sugar free muffins, so I am hoping when you start the reboot program everyone can share recipes etc.
Also I just wanted to mention another way you influenced my life in a positive way. Your love for bike riding prompted me to try it. I loved it! I bought a bike and for four months now have been riding at least 3 times a week. Thank you.

Hi sarah,
Just wanted to add that my partner has successfully completed the eight week sugar free diet and her chronic pain isbetter as well as having lost about five kilos. However, for the first six weeks she suffered terrible migraines, DAILY, and it was a comment here that sparked her to quit stevia- another lady mentioned that she too was getting headaches from it. She is now using xylitol and migraines have stopped!
I hope this message can help anyone out there.
Thank you for your sharing!
