Next week my 8-week I Quit Sugar Program kicks off. Everyone is welcome to join in – whether you bought the book ages ago, or just now. Sugar is toxic and it makes us fat. New Year. New Starts. A New Sugar-Free Life. The program is a “let’s do it together effort” with extra info and a webinar where I answer your specific questions.
To get you geared up, over the weekend we’re giving away:
Natvia pillow packs
Natvia is a natural sweetener derived from the purest and sweetest parts of the stevia plant, a South American plant.
Natvia is one of the ONLY fructose-free sweeteners I endorse in my I Quit Sugar ebook and it’s a RIPPA staple to have stashed in your pantry for when you’re quitting the white poison.
I’ve written about it before here and here. And the I Quit Sugar ebook features several recipes that call for stevia.
Stevia, so you know:
* contains 95% fewer calories than sugar
* is tooth friendly
* contains no aspartame, no saccharin
* is great for baking and cooking (my ebook has a bunch of recipes to try)
What to do next:
* Simply buy a copy of The I Quit Sugar ebook here - for $15 - before 5pm Monday 2nd January, and you’ll receive a Natvia pack (until stock runs out…I’ll advise here and on Twitter if this happens).
PLUS I’m going to give away 10 packs to anyone who’s already bought the book and has asked a great question or shared a great factoid in one of the forums.
* We will email you to get your address and Natvia will send your pack out in the New Year.
Wherever you are, I hope you enjoy these last few days of 2011. 2012 is going to be sweeter…I can just tell.

I bought the book 2 hours late for the acai, do I get in in time for this?:-)

Sophie, I’ll make a special case for you
[Reply]
Doh, I bought the book yesterday, oh well, getting off sugar should be enough of a bonus, won’t it???
[Reply]
Once again Sarah, well done on giving back to your tribe!
[Reply]
Oh darn it! I bought the book on Monday, also after the Acai giveaway. But in Day 3 of withdrawal and all going OK, even without the Natvia. And thankyou for the introduction to almond paste on rice crackers! Yummmo…

Does erythritol contain fructose?

Hi,
David Gillespie (Sweet Poison Quit Plan) says ‘it is your call’ on Erythritol…this means that it “may be safe in limited doses or over limited time frames”.
I just avoid all artificial sweeteners!

I have avoided Natvia for this reason. I have a lot of food intolerances and can’t really chance it. Thanks for the info, I’ll have to look into Sweet Poison

Am on Day Six sugar free and feeling fantastic! Looking forward to hearing how others are finding it in the New Year. Have signed up for Michelle Bridges 12wbt in February, so this eight weeks sugar free is the perfect lead in!

Can you buy Natvia in the general grocery stores? For those of us who were dedicated and bought our e-books before the offers came out

Yes, I buy it from Coles in the sugar section

Fabulous! Thank you Tash. And Sarah for recommending. xx
[Reply]
Hmm I bought my book on the 21st December! Do I qualify for a freebie?!?! God knows this sugar addict needs a little help here lol
[Reply]
Isn’t Erythritol one of those nasty sugar alcohols? I imagine it would be far healthier to use one of the pure stevia products on the market..
[Reply]
December 30th, 2011 at 11:38 pm
I think Sarah gets paid to advertise Natvia (I’m not saying that’s a bad thing at all), so yes a pure product would be much better if you want to avoid Erythtitol.

To clarify, I’m not paid by Natvia. This offer is for readers.

sorry. Thanks for clarification
I am suffering from ‘pre quitting sugar’ nerves! Not sure I’m up for it but will give it a big go come the first week of January. Should I be sugar loading now to prepare for the impending 8 weeks?! Ha

That’s a great idea. Have a massive sugar fix now and I bet you’ll find it much easier to give up next week!!!

That’s hilarious. Oddly after a bit, white flour and sugar seems like “not-food” once you redefine them in your head for a while. So a Tim Tam – YUCK! Load away, you’ll never eat the bgrs again! Lisa

I purchased the e-book when it first came out and really it doesn’t matter if I miss out on any giveaways as I have had the benefit of it for ages now.
Sarah, I read your blog assiduously but never comment but as 2011 draws to a close I really wanted to express my gratitude for all you have shared this year. You have made my life better and sweeter. I wish you health, happiness and an abundance of all that is good for you in the coming year. And I’m with you – I just feel 2012 will be sweeter.

Hi Sarah!
I’m So thrilled I found your site…I’m reading and underlining your WONDERFUL ebook now! Tell me, when you say “forums” do you mean face book and twitter? I bought your book before your announcement, and have great interest in chatting:) Also, do you ship internationally? Thanks!

Hi Sarah, just wondering if when removing fruit from my diet if that includes tomatoes and cucumbers as I eat a lot of salads, thanks? Looking forward to the 8 week program… praying this is the kick start I need to a very healthy 2012 and something to pass onto my son. Cheers Tanya

I don’t think tomatoes and cucumbers count at all, Tanya. I certainly haven’t stopped eating either….so you don’t have to worry about vegetables…but watch the tinned beetroot…always read the side of the tin of anything -corn, pineapple etc.

Whoa – am I going crazy, or has the part of this post saying Natvia contains Erythritol been removed?
I’m honestly not trying to stir up trouble, I’m just concerned that this product is being marketed as “all natural” and claims that Erythritol is an all natural, safe product. Erythritol is indeed found as naturally occurring in fruit in small amounts, but the Erythritol in Natvia is artificially created, not simply extracted from fruit. It seems quite misleading and a little sinister to me.

I must say I don’t go for replacing one kind of sugar fix with another sweet thing. I’m more for retraining towards better choices. One of my secret ingredients is buckwheat. A tbsp raw on top of greek yogurt (and fruit, if you’re not off fruit, that is), gives that crunchy texture that is missing from things without pastry/biscuit/crumble. Pop that on top, maybe a walnut or 2, and I am satisfied. Thanks so much for the e book – I ignored the stevia bits but I am delighted with my new cocoa nibs! Half a teaspoon fixes me up and no chocolate since. Lisa

I, too, have stayed away from any other sweeteners, natural or otherwise. I find that after being sugar free for almost 5 months, my palate has become incredibly refined. I find “sweetness” in the unlikeliest of places, and my need for added salt has also lessened. Anyone who is even slightly thinking of going sugar free should go for it…it’s not as hard as you think. When Sarah first did it at the start of the year I was amazed, but also knew that I couldn’t do that as I was such a sweet tooth. I can’t believe how much better, and less complicated (by the sugar-crazed fog!) my life is now. I no longer eat any junk food whatsoever, which I have been able to achieve beacause of this journey. Good luck for all you future sugar free lovelies!

Toni, that’s great news. I agree that once you’re off the sugar for a while, you don’t need replacements! In the interim, some help is good!

Can anyone help? I bought the ebook the day it was released, but my lovely husband has deleted the file from our computer. How can I get it again without having to re purchase? Xxx thanks… Clearly I’m not too computer savvy, but very ready to join the 8 week sugar free club

Will there be an unofficial sign up for the challenge?. I must admit to being a little nervous as i am an addict. Also i have an intolerance to the casein in products/dairy, so cannot tolerate cheese etc, so will be looking for snacking substitutes.

hello Sarah – bought your book and will join your eight week campaign as even though we are fairly good all round – GF and refined sugar free etc there is always something new to learn – best to you for 2012 le xox

I have PCOS and insulin resistance so have already reduced sugar intake but not fruit, honey and some other natural sugars – would you recommend this? Do you have to drop all fruit incl dried, carbs etc?
Jules

Jules, no more than 2 pieces of fruit a day…eat them, do not juice them. Honey ( usually 40% fructose) is out as is dried fruit, which has large quantities of fructose; so should be completely avoided…
don’t worry about carbs. ‘All carbs, except fibre and fructose are converted into glucose by your body. Glucose is the body’s primary source of energy” (quoting David’s book)
please try and get hold of David Gillespie’s book Sweet Poison the Quit Plan..it explains fully everything you need to know. He also has a website…just google Sweet Poison by David Gillespie.
it is a bit deceptive to say ‘sugar free’ when the aim is to be fructose free.
hope this helps.

Hi Sarah,
Does your tweet mean you are giving more packs away?
[Reply]
Hi Sarah,
I brought the ebook on the morning of January 2 and wanted to check if these packs have run out yet. If not, when can we expect to receive them? I went to buy a pack in the supermarket but thought I’d check to avoid doubling up
Cheers,
Tenille
P.S Just started week four and loving it!
