a friday giveaway: 5 x Science of Stillness meditation memberships worth $300
So you’ve reached the end of eight weeks of sugar-free life. Here’s to a new, calm, life – free of sugar (!)
To that end, this week I’m giving away
five x premium memberships to Science of Stillness, each valued at $297
to help you kick off your new life.
Tom Cronin (who I met in Bondi a few years back) and Nick Broadhurst have created the Science of Stillness , an online personal transformation program that teaches you meditation.
My assistant Jo has been testing it out for the past few weeks and I asked her to share the gist:
Jo: I was keen to check out the Stillness Sessions as I’ve been wanting to try this meditation style for a while now. The Science of Stillness program is a seven module online video program. Once you’re logged in, you have a personalised dashboard, which you can edit and update, and use to search posts, comments, and the forums. Easy, clean to navigate. No angst!
![]()
At the core of the program are the Stillness Sessions, a meditation program teaching a technique based on the vedic style of meditation [the style I practice, you can read about here - Sarah]. Each person gets their own specific mantra which Tom calls a Stillness Sound. After you’ve gone through a series of preparation videos, Tom teaches you your own specific Stillness Sound and spends twenty minutes with you through a video where you practice your sound, and practice stilling yourself. Then you’re able to meditate on your own, with your Stillness Sound, wherever you are.
Research shows that two months of techniques like these Stillness Sessions actually changes the brain, not just making it calmer but also increasing a person’s sense of self, empathy and memory. A pilot study for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder showed Stillness techniques improved these soldiers brain function, decreased their symptoms of PDST and increased their overall quality of life.
Meditation techniques like the Stillness sessions have been credited with:
- curing anxiety, stress and panic attacks
- raising consciousness to whole new levels
- helping people achieve life long dreams and goals they previously thought impossible
- allowing people to be more compassionate, understanding and supportive of friends and family
- giving an overall feeling of calm and relaxation even in the most stressful situations
Through the various Science of Stillness videos, you’re taught how to meditate under any circumstances, you learn adaptability and how to embrace change. There is also a video where Tom explains how the Science of Stillness can also be taught for children.
I personally loved the video on the circle of stress – which talks about how we accumulate stress, and how the Stillness Sound, and your own Stillness Sessions, can help to break that cycle.
Once you’ve completed the videos under the meditation module of the program, more modules are unlocked, and you move on to modules on the mind, the body, body balance, nutrition ammunition, mind power, and advanced awareness.
Tom and Nick are very active in the online forums, and answer questions, and guide members through the entire process. There’s a help desk online if you’re stuck at all.
The Science of Stillness is available on all desktop and mobile devices, so you can meditate in your car if you’re stuck in traffic (!).
Today, Science of Stillness are giving away five premium memberships to their program, each valued at $297.
* To win, simply buy a copy of my I Quit Sugar ebook, and comment on the IQS facebook page that you’d like to be in the running. The winners will be randomly chosen on Wednesday 29th February at 5pm.
If you’re thinking of signing up, but feeling a little unsure, why not watch a couple of free videos on the Science of Stillness website.
And a happy Friday to you all…x

When I bought my IQS I was supposed to get a free box of stevia but never heard anything else about it…

Hey Lizzy, Jo will be in touch.
This looks great! I’ve been trying so hard to teach my self meditation, but am having SUCH a hard time! I even have considered buying Deepak Chopra’s new Wii game.
I bought IQS a few months ago and really enjoyed it!

I interviewed DC on this… let me know your thoughts…

Sarah, I have bought so many copies of your IQS book in the hope of winning one of the great giveaways. Couldn’t you change the competition rules so it doesn’t entail buying the book again? Perhaps just posting a comment or tip instead?

Same thoughts Jan. Would be good if it was just a giveaway without a catch.
And who is Jo mentioned in the article?

I’m pretty sure Jo is Sarah’s trusty assistant.

Oh, thanks. Couldn’t tell much from the write up if he/she found it a benefical program (pretty much just talked about the research of meditation – which I can do myself, and put in a sales pitch for Tom & Nick)
February 27th, 2012 at 9:52 pm
And yes Jo works with me and is very trusty.

Hey, quite a number (more than half) of the givewaways have pivoted from posting a comment or simply signing yourself or a friend to the newsletter.

Sarah, have posted the message and previously bought the book – hoping that we don’t have to buy multiple times to be in the running for your promotions – that die-hard devotees who are already on board can be in with a chance?… keeping my fingers crossed

Jo, not sure if you respond to questions but interested in why wanted to try this style of yoga. I’m been experimenting with yoga for a few years now and yet to find one that fits.
p.s – I really hope that people don’t call for help when stuck in traffic. Would be pretty annoying sitting behind somewho who’s gone into a trance!!

Hi Sarah, I can’t log onto my facebookpage (because I’ve never used it and can’t remember password or retrieve it) but so need to learn how to meditate. I’m starting to believe that what you need comes to you somehow. Heard your blog meantioned on tv about a week ago, only heard the part about your IQS blog and have been reading through it this week. Wednesday my naturopath told me my “homework” was to research meditation as she believes it will a great help to me. (me too ). At lunchtime today I ordered the IQS ebook, need to quit sugar to help with stress and anxiety….voila…tonight I read about the free meditation giveaway. (Tried in vain to reconnect with facebook, will keep trying).
So please could I be considered for your giveaway even though I’m not sending this through the required area.

I don’t really trust any meditation courses you have to pay for and have any sort of “personalized” chant or secret ingredient that will miraculously deliver calm and happiness.
There are do many fabulous and authentic meditation options out there for free or by Dana

Hi Mel, paying $ for a personal mantra doesn’t sit well with me either. I meditate for free at a buddist temple in a very calm & relaxed environment.
The idea of learning to medidate via a video is very de-personalised. Kinda reminds me of the Jane Fonda video guide to aerobics!
Who or what is Dana?

If you go to Tom’s website, you can sign up to receive a 3-part video course that he sends you via email. It’s free, and discusses some great techniques for calming the mind. I quite liked it, Tom has a nice soothing voice and isn’t patronizing at all, just gentle. I would be happy to pay for a more in-depth course based on that. As with all things, if you feel someone is knowledgeable enough, then the exchange of your dollars for their wisdom is worthwhile.

Sarah, not sure if you like your tweets spilling over to your blog (I’m not on twitter) but just wanted to query you on something. You said that ‘Rudds own mental health advisor……’. If you read the article you attached carefully, it refers to Rudds ‘one-time senior adviser on mental health’. There is a big difference!

Hi Sarah
I’d like you to know of a new free online meditation course at http://www.learnmeditationonline.org
Always good to read your news and views. You give out a lot of good information to people
I also wondered if you know of emotional freedom techniques – acupressure tapping while identifying particular negative, and then positive emotions. My website is http://www.easyemotionalfreedom.com.au
and there is plenty of free insights and tips on it. Easy to learn and do! And relaxing
all the best, Gopi Elton
