I’m publishing I Quit Sugar as a book!

Posted on September 5th, 2012

I’ve kind of mentioned it in passing a few times, and did a mini-announcement on Instagram, but how about I make it official. I Quit Sugar is growing up into a “real” book. With pages. It all happened quite fast and as with so many things in my life, it’s been shrouded in chaos.

It needed some new recipes. So I created them while I was in Ikaria, Greece.

It needed a cover and some extra shots taken. But I was travelling. And so, the photographer – my beautiful mate Marija - came to me. In Copenhagen.

We made you a little video on our way…

YouTube Preview Image

We organised the shoot there, in Denmark, on the fly, and travelled by bike between locations. It was very funny and lucky Marija and I like living this way. The Danes? Not so much. They like plans and lots of warning. That said we got so much love and care.

Thank you to Joekim at Oops hair salon (a seriously good cutter and uses only natural colour techniques), the team at 2pm Model Management who let us use their bit of “alleyway” and Monika the makeup artist who was very much Our Kind of Person.

The book is out in time for Christmas and the wonderful team at PanMacmillan are doing the honours. Stay tuned for more.

I’m sure the original poster intended it sarcastically, but I really like the idea! How funny would it be?

You could have a big evil food corporation like the baddies in We Will Rock You with subsequent musical numbers. And perhaps an aerial stunt like in Wicked, except symbolizing Sarah flying around the world spreading the word & hunting researchers who agree with her message.

    Hehehe :)

  • Wow, that’s super exciting! And all the better to share the no-sugar-love around – most of my friends and family who could most benefit from the IQS message aren’t exactly ‘into’ eBooks!
This must be a real thrill for you, Sarah. Congratulations! I absolutely love reading what you say here online, and it must be exciting to re-delve into other media as well…

  • Yay fantastic, I have to say, scrolling through ebook pages doesn’t give me the same pleasure as grabbing a book and flicking through the pages! Santa will definitely be slipping one down a few chimneys my way!

what a fabulous feat! And getting it done while travelling – i don’t think the word “obstacle” is in your vocabulary!!
Looking forward to weighing down my bookshelf even more, and sharing the love too!
I still get surprised when I see people out there being frivolous with sugar – it’s so ingrained in my psyche now that is still shocks me!! the hard copy should sort that out!!
best of luck with it! :)

  • Super excited to see this one in print. I’ll be lining up to upgrade my eBook copy to one with real pages I can touch and feel.

You know you’re THE most sensible natural & foodie blogger around. No nonsense plus wisdom without being too left of centre. Keep it up!

Hi sarah, I am a latecomer to your blog and book. I am interested in eliminating or significantly reducing sugar in my and my children’s diets but have two children allergic to nuts. I notice nuts feature in a number of your recipes and wonder if there will be enough in the book that our family are safe to eat?

I love your I Quit Sugar ebook!! It has saved my body and I’s relationship!! I feel amazing. The only thing I didnt like about the book was the huge chapter on coconut. I have a severe coconut allergy, do you recommend another food that rivals coconut’s amazing benefits?

    Hi Sarah,

I started your program 7 weeks ago this week! So far so good, I have indeed lost all interest in the foods I used to crave – just as you said I would.

There is only one thing I’m struggling with: eating out. I am terrified of curries, Chinese, Thai, pizza just to name a few. Can you give me some advise on what to avoid when eating out? Are there any specific cuisines more likely to use sugar than others?

P.S. One of the girls in our office made your crunchy nut cheesecake & it was a massive hit :)
