  • This looks great Sarah, I would love you to do a vegetarian IQS style e-book in the future! Wishful thinking maybe? :)

Bit tricky because I try to really write everything based on what I personally find works. But leave it with me…

Thanks for considering, I know you’re not a vegetarian but hopefully one day you’ll amass a big resource of vego-friendly recipes that could be turned into a book :) For now I’m enjoying Scandi Foodie’s take on your challenge and might try to make some new recipes myself X

I just purchased this e-book. It’s lovely; unfortunately, there are only 15 recipes with “vegan options,” and they’re mostly beverages and snacks. Perhaps I should have asked prior to buying, but to advertise this e-book as including “vegan options” seems a bit misleading.

Hi Paige, I don’t think I’ve been misleading, but if you’re unhappy we really don’t mind refunding…email info@sarahwilson.com.au and we’ll do that for you

Hi Sarah ~ I just purchased the Xmas Meal Plan & would like to make your Berry Trifle Parfait. It calls for 1 tin of coconut milk. How many ounces or cups is this? I live in the U.S. & we don’t have tins. By the way, I made your Pumpkin Pie last night & it was delicious!!! Thanks for all you are doing to change people’s lives for the better!!! :-)

Me too, I haven’t received it yet either. I sent an email a couple of days ago and left a message on the board but still haven’t heard or received the recipe book. I’m guessing there was a problem with the pre-orders as it seems a few people didn’t get it. Fingers crossed we will get it very soon.

    Cheers,
    Cas

Hi there… Just wondering if anybody else suffers with serious lapses! I feel so wonderful/less bloated/slim/positive and happy for a week or two (sometimes three), then I fall off the wagon. I get a tiny taste of sugar, then I binge on chocolate and bikkies and excess carbs. I feel absolutely awful and anxious again. This affects my body and weight hugely! I am around 60kg generally. After I fall off though, I can feel the bloated-ness/lack of energy again and I am up to 62-3kg in ONLY A DAY OR TWO. It takes the 2-3 weeks to get it off again… I feel good… Then I fall off the wagon again. I have read Sarah and David Gillespie and I am very aware of what (good food) goes into my body and regular exercise. I feel that I have educated myself very well, but I struggle with lapsing again and again. I cannot understand the excessive weight gain either? Please help! I should post this comment on Facebook, but I am embarrassed! Day 1 (again) tomorrow… Wish me luck!

I appreciate any help in understanding why this lapsing affects me so much (weight gain, anxiety and teary) as well as any positive feedback. A million thanks!

    Hey Emma!
There is actually an explaination for why you put on 2-3kg when you eat excessive carbohydrates after cutting them out for a period of time. From what I understand, when we reduce the carbohydrates in our diet – especially refined carbohydrates (obviously we still consume some through our fruit and vegetables), our muscle glycogen stores become depleted. This is why when someone goes on a “low-carb diet” they can immediately lose 2-3kg. This doesnt mean that they have lost 2-3kg of fat (or muscle), it simply means that they done have as much stored energy in their body. This is also why sometimes people who go on a “low-carb diet” can feel tired and lethargic initially. Once our bodies begin to rely on all the wonderful healthy fats that we replace our carbs with – coconut oil, avocados, nuts etc – for energy, we once again feel energised and this is where fat loss occurs. So.. if you think about this in reverse, you consuming refined carbohydrates/sugars after consuming a low-carb diet for a period of time is likely to elicit some gain on the scales – this is why scales are not the best method of health monitoring. In terms of addressing the issue of “falling off” or having lapses in your diet – it isnt the end of the world if this happens only occasionally! Obviously if it makes you feel horrible, its not a good thing but while I dont want to encourage eating unhealthy food, if you allow yourself to eat something outside of a low carb/paleo style diet one every few weeks, it may help you stay on track! We are all human and there are so many temptations out there so dont punish yourself if you are unable to eat perfectly 100% of the time.
My partner and I choose our anniversary every month to go out for a non-paleo dinner and have whatevverrrrr dessert we want. Usually the following day involves bloating but I usually find im back to normal within 2-3 days.. and it only increases my motivation to stick to my healthy eating on every other day of the month.
I hope what I have said makes sense.. and if anyone disagrees, im more than happy to be corrected! I hope this helps : )

Remember that you’re human and you’re doing a wonderful thing by adopting a healthy lifestyle : ).

Oh Emma, this is exactly what I do and it drives me nuts! I actually am thinking more and more that it is hormonal and linked to my cycle (which is a bit erratic at times so I might be wrong). It’s frustrating because I keep telling myself it should be mind over matter, but my cravings are soooo intense that I think there actually needs to be a physical reason for it. And because at other times, I have no issue eating extremely cleanly and sugar free! Very frustrating indeed and can definitely relate to your annoyance and anxiety over it. I feel better already knowing that someone else has the same problem – thank you for sharing!

    Hang in there Jackie,

its different for everyone…my husband lost 16 kilos over a 5 month period..
another friend did the 8 wk program and only lost 3.5 kilos unfortunately she was inactive due to injuries.
I was only 54 kilos and didnt need to lose weight but dropped down to a staggering 49 kilos just by giving up sugar. This was over a 5 month period.
Dont give up, weight loss is only one aspect of the healthy benefits gained from quitting sugar. It may take time for your metabilisim to kick in……

Also exercise and state of mind are another important part to consider to work hand in hand with giving up sugar…

    all the best xxo

  • This is the first time at your website, and I’m very pleased with what I’m seeing. I’m wondering how I’m going to get through Christmas without eating sugar, and you have it all ready to go with information I can use. Thank you! I’ll be ordering it immediately. I’ve cut out added sugar from my life and have made many changes that are much healthier. It didn’t hurt that I lost over 70 pounds in the year since I made an effort to go sugarfree. I’m going to try the coconut oil. I had heard some things about it, but I’ve not started using it yet. Well, I’ll be off to the store to get it soon.
